Abstract

Science literacy is an important competency that students must have in facing 21st century life
full of global challenges and rapid technological development. This article aims to discuss how
Student Worksheets based on Problem-Based Learning (PBL) integrated with ethnoscience can
train the scientific literacy of high school students. The primary focus of this discussion is on the
effectiveness of SW in developing three scientific literacy competencies: explaining scientific
phenomena, designing scientific investigations, and interpreting data scientifically. Data were
taken from the results of a trial of the developed product on seventh-grade students at a Junior
High School in Mataram. The results show that the developed Student worksheet makes a real
contribution to building students' scientific thinking skills through active involvement in the local
cultural context. The application of PBL facilitates the inquiry and problem-solving process,
while the integration of ethnoscience provides a meaningful learning context. This article
recommends similar SW as a strategic tool in literacy-based science learning.
