Cultural Literacy in Sasambo Local Wisdom: A Comparative Study of Social, Spiritual, and Ecological Values

Abstract
Cultural literacy is an important tool for sustaining the identity and values of local communities amid globalization. This study aims to analyze the construction of cultural literacy in Sasambo local wisdom through a comparative study of social, spiritual, and ecological values in the Sasak, Samawa, and Mbojo tribes. The research uses a qualitative, descriptive-comparative design based on literature reviews, employing content analysis techniques across relevant scientific literature. The findings show that the Sasak tribe emphasizes spiritual-material harmonization, the Samawa tribe prioritizes the synergy of humans and nature in agrarian culture, while the Mbojo tribe is oriented towards collective resilience and religiosity-based social ethics. Compared with one another, the three tribes share similarities in their symbiotic relations with nature and agrarian culture, but differ in their historical orientation and social structure. It is concluded that Sasambo's local wisdom represents a cultural literacy system that functions as a mechanism for transmitting values and socio-ecological adaptation strategies. This research has implications for strengthening the study of cultural literacy grounded in local wisdom as a theoretical foundation for character education and sustainable development rooted in regional culture.
