Author Guidelines
Authors who wish to publish in the Indonesian Journal of Educational Innovation (IJEI) must carefully read and follow the requirements listed below.
- The article must be original, have not been published elsewhere, is not under consideration for publication in any other media or journal, and must have a similarity index of no more than 20% as checked using Turnitin.
- The article should be written in either Indonesian or English. The article’s structure must include the following sections: title; author’s name; abstract with keywords; introduction; method; results and discussion; conclusion; and references.
- The document is typed using Microsoft Word (doc/docx) with the following format; (1) Font, Book Antiqua; (2) Font Size, 11; (3) Spacing, 1; and (4) the body of the article is made into two columns with a distance between columns of 0.76 cm.
Preliminary Section
- Title writing format: Book Antiqua font size 14 with a capital letter at the beginning of each word.
- Author and affiliation format: Use Book Antiqua font, size 10. The affiliation should be written in the following order: Department Name, Organization Name, City, and Country.
- Abstract is written in one paragraph with a maximum of 250 words. The abstract should provide a relevant overview of the work for research articles. We strongly encourage authors to use the following structured abstract style, but without headings: (1) Background: Place the question being addressed in a broad context and highlight the purpose of the study; (2) Research Objectives: Identify the aims and objectives of the study; (3) Methods: Briefly describe the primary methods or theoretical framework applied; (4) Results: Summarize the main findings of the article; and (5) Conclusions: Present the main conclusions or interpretations. (6) Scientific implications/recommendations: Providing contributions to science or suggestions for applying research results. The abstract is written in English using Book Antiqua font size 10.
- Keywords include three to five relevant keywords specific to the article, but fairly general within the same discipline; use lowercase letters except for names.
Main Text
- Introduction should briefly place the research in a broader context and highlight why it is essential. It should be a maximum of 20% of the article’s body, preferably four paragraphs long. The introduction begins with scientific values and supporting data. Next, the central concept that is the basis of the research is explained. Continued with presenting actual problems in the field along with alternative solutions. The final section conveys the urgency and purpose of the study. As much as possible, the introduction is written to be understood by scientists outside your specific research field.
- Method is written briefly, concisely, and clearly, but still includes all important information related to the implementation of the research. The explanation includes the time and location of the research, type of research, and population and sample, which includes a description of the population, number of samples, sampling techniques with references, variables, and data collection instruments. Tools, materials, and data collection techniques are explained briefly without containing theory. Research procedures must be described systematically according to the stages of implementation in the field. General statistical formulas do not need to be included unless special formulas or provisions are used in data processing. The length of the method section is limited to a maximum of 10% of the article content for qualitative research, and 15% for quantitative research.
- Results and discussion facilitate understanding and reading, and the research results are described first. Subsequently, the discussion is presented under a separate subheading. This section should be the most substantial part of the article, comprising a minimum of 60% of the entire body of the manuscript. Results can be presented as tables, figures, graphs, verbal descriptions, or a combination. Tables, graphs, or images should not be too long, large, or numerous. Authors should use a variety of presentations of tables, graphs, or verbal descriptions. Tables and graphs presented must be referred to in the text. The instructions for writing tables are shown in Table 1. Tables do not contain vertical lines (upright) and horizontal lines (flat) are only at the head and tail of the table. The font size of the table and figure contents may be reduced. Discussion is intended to interpret the research results according to the theory used and not just explain the findings. The discussion must be enriched by referring to previous research results published in scientific journals.
- Conclusions: The contribution of the work to the scientific community and its economic implications should be emphasized.
Postliminary Section
- The References section should follow the style detailed in the APA 6th Edition Publication Manual. Ensure all references mentioned in the text are listed in the reference section and vice versa, and the spelling of author names and years is consistent. Please do not use footnotes or endnotes in any format. We suggest that all authors use the software ENDNOTE, MENDELEY, ZOTERO, or EASYBIB for easy citations.
